Description des services: Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities
Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Child and Family Services worker on-reserve provided through Tikinagan Child and Family Services in Sioux Lookout; community served through office in Wunnumin Lake, ph: 807-442-1098, fax: 807-442-2609
  • Hospital services available at Meno Ya Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout
  • Ontario First Nation Policing arrangements through Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service, Kingfisher Lake Detachment; local phone: 807-532-2197, fax: 807-532-2277
  • Provides a small business centre including the Omahamo Store, Omahamo Hotel and Restaurant and Canada Post postal station
  • Provides a few private businesses and a community laundromat
  • Offers a local radio station and cable television
  • Provides provincial court services in the community at the Band Office on an occasional basis
  • Serviced by scheduled and charter flights through the Kingfisher Lake Airport located 2.8 km SW of community; maintained and serviced by the Ministry of Transportation Ontario
  • Provides worship services at St Matthews Anglican Church; operates a church-based Dr Winter School of Ministry
  • Administers education services and Maryann Aganash Memorial School through the Kingfisher Lake Education Authority
  • Provides health care and health programs at Swanson Mekanak Memorial Health Centre
  • Community hooked up to the Ontario elecrtrical system (power grid) in November 2022 through the Wataynikaneyap Power line/project; diesel generators in community turned off
Kingfisher Lake is a dry community and ALL arriving passengers at airport and via winter road undergo a luggage check for alcohol and/or illegal substances
