Description des services: Provides programs and services to improve the quality of life for urban Indigenous people with a focus on social, educational and cultural development

Offers a culturally sensitive high school program for students to obtain an Ontario Secondary School diploma
  • Offers individual, independent learning centre (ILC) credits for students to complete at own pace
  • May also offer some teacher led group studies
  • Provides courses in math, English, history, geography, science and business administration
  • Incorporates Indigenous cultural components into program
  • Provides lunch program for enrolled students
Students are required to:
  • Attend school 15 hours per week (7.5 hours for part time students)
  • Complete a minimum of two lessons per week
  • Participate in monthly student meetings
  • Participate in school activities and fundraising
Program delivery is through partnership with Beaver Brae Secondary School and the Kenora District School Board

  • Must be registered through Beaver Brae Secondary School prior to enrolling in ISSP

  • Registration arrangements made at Kenora's Beaver Brae High School; transcripts available from office at high school, if required for course
Admissibilité / population desservie:
  • Open to all with a focus on off-reserve Indigenous individuals 16-21 years of age

  • Must have been out of school for at least one month

  • Anyone interested in completing high school accredited courses
