Works collaboratively with partners to improve access to high quality services for First Nations, Inuit and Métis, with the vision to support and empower Indigenous peoples to independently deliver services and address the socio-economic conditions in their communities
Receives and investigates allegations and complaints made by phone, mail, email or in person regarding First Nation, Inuit and Métis bodies and organizations, their employees and representativesRefers to the appropriate policing authority if criminal activity is involvedAllegations may include, for example:the misuse or misappropriation of Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) fundsfraudcollusiongross mismanagementComplaints differ from allegations in that they involve actions or inactions which are potentially non-criminal in nature and may include, for example:a First Nations on-reserve member who cannot obtain funding for house repairs or for post-secondary education and who believes the process was unfair
