The Atikokan Family Health Team includes: Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, Dietitian, Mental Health Worker, Pharmacist and Administration allow physicians and other allied health providers to work as a team to focus on keeping patients healthyThe vision calls for physicians, nurse practitioners and other members of the team to practice together in a positive working environment, sharing and benefiting from the complementary knowledge and skills of their colleagues
Provides prenatal and postnatal care for pregnant women and new mothers- Offers prenatal education to all pregnant women
- Conducts prenatal home visits
- Works under a medical directive which allows the necessary lab work orders to be placed right from home visit
Services include:- Weighing patients
- Urine analysis
- Blood pressure checks
- Postpartum education
- Lactation advice
- Loan of hospital grade electric breast pump
- Weighing and assessing newborns
- Education to new moms about newborns
- Referrals and information about programs and services available in community
