Description des services: Provides culturally appropriate health and social services to member First Nation communities

Aims to reduces probability of contact with the legal system for those living with a mental illness or addiction
Provides case management services which include:
Illness Stabilization
  • Intake and needs assessments
  • Psychiatric assessments
  • Education about mental health and addictions factors
  • Referrals to treatment programs
Life Skills
  • Teaches development of life skills for independence and healthier lifestyle
  • Focus is on money management, problem-solving, employment, nutrition and personal care
Building Support Systems
  • Encourages building family and social supports
  • Promotes using community resources and traditional healing methods
  • Offers family counseling
  • Provides referrals to resources outside community
Restorative Justice
  • Gives the individual opportunity to take responsibility for their behaviour
  • Helps them to understand the impact of their behaviour and to repair the harm done to victims

  • Referrals accepted from Police, Crown Attorney, Legal sector including Probation & Parole, Community Service Providers from the 14 First Nations served, Child & Family Services, other Court Diversion programs, members of Addictions/Counselling/Mental Health programs and any concerned parents or community members

  • Services are provided locally within each community
Admissibilité / population desservie:
  • First Nations individuals aged 12 years and older demonstrating signs of addiction or anti-social behaviours

  • Individual does not have to have a criminal record
