Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities
Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Child and Family Services worker on-reserve provided through Tikinagan Child and Family Services in Sioux Lookout
  • Hospital services available at Meno Ya Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout
  • Ontario First Nation Policing arrangements through Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service, Kasabonika Detachment; local phone: 807-535-1024, fax: 807-535-1025
  • Provides a Northern Store, renovated and newly opened in Dec 2015, operated by the North West Company
  • Operates a Canada Post postal station, open 5 days per week
  • Offers worship services including traditional medicine and rituals, an Anglican Church and a Gospel Church
  • Offers a Community Centre, used for hockey, skating, bingo, dances, feasts and other social gatherings
  • Offers accommodation at the Kasabonika Hotel and Restaurant
  • Provides provincial court services in the community on a quarterly basis
  • Serviced by scheduled and charter flights through the Kasabonika Airport located 1.9 km W of community; maintained and serviced by the Ministry of Transportation Ontario
  • Administers Chief Simeon McKay Education Centre for students from JK-Grade 12
  • Provides health care and health programs through the Emily Anderson Nursing Station
  • Offers addictions treatment at the Detox Centre
  • Offers Kasabonika Community Development Corporation (KCDC)
  • Provides Early Childhood Development programs at the Resource Centre
Kasabonika Lake is a dry community and ALL arriving passengers at airport and via winter road undergo a luggage check for alcohol and/or illegal substances
