Description des services: A family-centred organization that delivers culturally appropriate supports and programs based on traditional and modern teachings for Indigenous women and their families

Provides supports and services to help families improve maternal and infant nutritional health by focusing on maternal nourishment, nutrition and breastfeeding

Focuses on the following three areas:

Maternal Nourishment that may include:
  • Baby food making and nutritional cooking sessions
  • Healthy snacks and meal information
  • Milk and food vouchers as well as vitamin supplements
Nutrition Screening, Education and Counselling includes:
  • Education on prenatal nutrition
  • Understanding food labels
  • Presentations by dietitians and health specialists
  • Nutrition screening by Community Health Representative
  • Individual counselling by nutritionists
  • Lifestyle counseling for expectant parents
Breastfeeding Program includes:
  • Promotion of breastfeeding initiation and duration
  • Support groups
  • Breastfeeding videos and resource materials
  • Equipment lending for parents of newborns
Also coordinates:
  • Family and cultural events
  • Parent resource library

Admissibilité / population desservie:
  • Focus is for Indigenous women who are pregnant, new mothers or with infants under 12 months of age but open to anyone in need of services

  • Vitamin supplements, milk and food vouchers are only available to women enrolled in the program
