Description des services: Provides a wide range of community-based and culturally appropriate programs and services for Indigenous people living in an urban environment

Provides a licensed school readiness program for Indigenous children entering school for the first time
  • Delivers programs through early childhood educators and resource teachers in a structured pre-school environment
  • Provides healthy snacks and lunch
Program focus is on:
  • Indigenous culture and language
  • Education and school readiness
  • Health promotion and nutrition
  • Parental involvement
  • Social supports
Services offered are:
  • Dental screening and fluoride treatments
  • Developmental assessments
  • Parent workshops
  • Speech and language (also teaches basic Ojibwe)
Transportation
  • Provides bus transportation for children to and from the program

  • Requires completed registration application and

  • Child's birth certificate and updated immunization record


After child is accepted, parent is required to:

  • Sign consent for parental involvement in program
Admissibilité / population desservie:
  • Children 2.5-5 years of age

  • Priority given to Indigenous children; non-Indigenous children accepted if space is available

  • Due to Covid-19 pandemic, group size/COHORT grouping significantly limits the amount of spaces available for child care program

  • Priority given to families that meet the mandatory selection criteria and are in the highest need (low income, high risk, families living on assistance)
