Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities
Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Child and Family Services worker on-reserve provided through Tikinagan Child and Family Services in Sioux Lookout
  • Hospital services available at Meno Ya Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout and Margaret Cochenour Hospital in Red Lake
  • Ontario First Nation Policing arrangements through Nishnawbe-Aski Police Services (NAPS), Northwest Region; local ph: 807-776-0025; fax: 807-776-0045
  • Offers one main North Spirit Foods grocery store, a few smaller convenience stores and gas station
  • Operates a Canada Post postal service
  • Operates a small airport maintained and serviced by the Ministry of Transportation Ontario and served primarily by Wasaya Airways
  • Hosts recreational, traditional, and social activities throughout the year including baseball tournaments, volleyball tournaments, annual and seasonal feasts, traditional teachings in arts and crafts and traditional practices along with other holiday celebrations
  • Opened Cliffdweller Inn, a new hotel in Aug 2016
  • Community has many artists who paint and make handicrafts
  • Provides a technology centre for access to computers through the E-Centre
  • Administers Victoria Linklater Memorial School for students from JK-Grade 9
  • Provides health care and health programs from the Stanley Rae Memorial Health Station
